NZ: Diet and insufficient physical activity caused 40 per cent of all deaths in 1997

The Ministry of Health has released a new report identifying the top 20 causes of death in New Zealand in 1997 and classifies them by risk factor. Diet and insufficient physical activity were considered responsible for nearly 40 per cent of all deaths in that year. High blood pressure killed 4700 people and obesity claimed 3200 lives.
