Obesity and overweight increasing throughout Europe
The growing rates of obesity in European children is affecting their health. Many of these children are already showing signs of obesity-related diseases normally seen in middle aged or older adults.
The International Obesity Taskforce has released preliminary estimates of the numbers of EU children at risk for obesity associated diseases. For instance, an estimated 210,000 children are already affected by type 2 diabetes. Several other health problems are listed too.
