Acting upstream to control the obesity epidemic in New Zealand
The April issue of the NZ Medical Journal has an editorial on obesity in New Zealand by Nick Wilson, Carolyn Watts, Louise Signal and George Thomson.
The authors list key points on the effects of the food and marketing industries on population health and inequalities in health. (These points come from an Otago University workshop in March.) They then suggest the six most important public policy issues that need to be tackled if the obesity epidemic is to be halted and reversed.
