US: Economic ways to tackle obesity: taxation and pricing incentives

Food taxation and pricing strategies to “thin out” the obesity epidemic

A review article looks at two economic ways to address the obesity epidemic in the US. One is to tax soft drinks, snack foods, and/or fast foods. The other is to apply pricing incentives/disincentives on foods sold in schools and worksites.
