UK: Healthy Start voucher scheme launched nationwide

The Healthy Start scheme will give families from low income and disadvantaged households better access to healthy food. Young children and pregnant mothers from these households will get free vouchers for milk and fresh fruit and vegetables.

The scheme was launched across the UK at the end of November.

FOE wants healthy food to be more affordable. We included a section on the use of food vouchers in our submission to the Health Select Inquiry into Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes in New Zealand. (See page 53)
