Australia: Junk food ad Bill introduced in Senate

Keep little eyes from junk food ads: experts

The Green Party introduced a Bill into the Australian Senate on 4 September. If passed, it would ban junk food ads during children’s television viewing hours and ban junk food ads in schools. The Green’s leader, Bob Brown, says:

Ending the multimillion dollar campaign by junk food companies aimed directly at children is one huge step in the urgent strategy required to tackle rampant obesity in Australia.
