Australia: Lack of sleep linked to teenage obesity

A survey of 4000 Australian children aged 9 to 18 found a strong association between the length of time children slept and their weight. The heavier children slept less – especially in the weekend. It is possible that a third factor is contributing to both the obesity and the sleep loss, but the researchers consider it unlikely.
