UK: Council to ban new takeaway outlets near schools

East London Council plans to ban new takeaway outlets within 400 metres of schools, youth centres and parks. This is part of its strategy to help combat child obesity and promote healthy eating.

The Council also wants to limit the number of fast-food outlet in “shopping parades” and to restrict their opening hours.
