NZ: Call for soft drink ban in schools

Nelson oral health expert, Dr Roby Beaglehole, wants the Nelson region to lead New Zealand in banning soft drinks in schools and making them a sugar-free zone.

He regards the scrapping of  the national school food guidelines, a retrograde step.   However, some Nelson schools say they are still sticking to the guidelines.

Dr Beaglehole has co-authored a report for the World Dental Federation, The Oral Health Atlas.
