UN tackles non-communicable diseases

The United Nations has adopted a resolution to prevent and control non-communicable diseases.  These include cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, some cancers and chronic respiratory disease.

It will hold a high-level summit in September 2011 to discuss the impact of these diseases, particularly for low and middle-income countries.
