Australia: Planet Obesity: a book review

Planet Obesity, a new book by Australian Professors Garry Eager and Boyd Swinburn, investigates the causes and solutions for the obesity epidemic.  The authors don’t blame individuals for lack of self-control.  They maintain the epidemic is the result of environmental and economic factors.   As one reviewer explains:

An economy based on constant growth demands forever increasing consumption.  This means eating more food and utilising more labour saving devices.  Excessive calories are consumed as a result and less energy expended in normal day-to-day activities.

Their solutions are ones that are good for the environment and for population health.
