Mexican Senate approves junk food tax

Along with a raft of other taxation measures, the Mexican Senate has approved a soda tax, which will increase the price of soft drinks 10 percent, and a fast food sales tax of 8 percent.

The reform will go back to Congress for the small changes made to the original to be approved. The law is expected to come into force next January.
