Obesity in New Zealand children: a weighty issue
Dr Rachael Taylor responds to some of the issues raised by Professor Bevan Grant in an article in the New Zealand Medical Journal. She discusses the usefulness of BMI and the effectiveness of a school based intervention programme (the APPLE project) in reducing the rate of excessive weight gain in primary school children. Taylor also stresses the need to properly evaluate these intervention programmes.
