Consumer NZ and other consumer groups from around the world are asking the WHO for an international code to ban the marketing of unhealthy food to children.
They have just launched a draft code calling for a ban on TV or radio junk food ads between 6:00am and 9:00pm and a ban on marketing these products using other media such as websites or phones.

New Code to ban the marketing of unhealthy food to children
Consumers International and the International Obesity Taskforce have launched a draft code that would “drastically restrict the scope and scale of the marketing of unhealthy food to children across the globe.” They are calling for it to be adopted by national governments, as part of the World Health Organization’s strategy to tackle obesity and diet-related diseases.
