Fast-food outlaws
Los Angeles has banned the opening of any new fast-food outlets for a year in a poor area swamped by McDonald’s and Pizza Huts. Health authorities hope that this will attract shops selling healthier food, such as fresh fruit and vegetables.

LA blocks new fast-food outlets from poor areas
The Los Angeles City Council has placed a year-long moratorium on new fast food outlets in LA’s poorest areas in a bid to counter obesity.
It wants to attract restaurants that sell healthier food and to encourage more grocery stores into the area.
